They Don’t Even Know How to Say Their Own Names!
Another week, another system. We chose to begin in the open, passing Chirality with their domed cities, and reached Flower on the 13th of February.
During the time we traveled we all stayed mostly to ourselves- Dayan fixed the showers so they stayed hot instead of suddenly going cold. I checked on the key for my home planet’s defense system- how I missed Alari III!
We arrived in the New Horizon system and they informed us that we had to provide a 10% tariff on all goods- which Jenny described as “highway robbery”.
Tim, our computer, shows our gold in the hold, as contaminated moon rock, and made it so that we did not hand them tons of cash. Tim reported that he was feeling more himself and less the murderer he used to be- obviously good news.
Dayan finally agreed that he will not go off on his own any more…. we will see if he keeps his word.
It has been confirmed that Geneva is turning into a monster, like the ones we fought on our original ship. She has claws, and is a foot taller than she used to be. She is manifesting differently than those on the Chiron, not becoming a psycho-zombie, but I do not trust her at all. Dayan chatted with her, and he seems to think it will be ok- I am afraid a small intervention that was done is not going to be enough.
Geneva is not the only one changing- Newie has symbiotes that are changing, and he can increase people’s abilities, or decrease them. We experimented with the new power, and it worked, a little. He increased my strength, or so he said, but got smoked in an arm wrestling contest with the giant. He boosted my shooting, and that worked great- I could have shot the wings off a fly. He tried to lower my strength, and seemed to make me stronger.
Back to the bridge, we found a number of bio-ships that looked like squids searching for us- so we went into stealth mode and got out of the area, quickly. Unfortunately, the rest of the group felt we should communicate while sneaking out, and we came very close to being found…. and then Captain Dayan decided we should reveal ourselves…
I felt we were walking into a terrible trap, but we were escorted by a group of small ships towards Kashek, or Kaseek, or Kaseck, or Khasyyq or whatever- even they didn’t seem to know how they pronounce their own name- how do you trust people that don’t even know themselves?
We helped save a ship on the way through, thanks to Newie’s repair skill and our team’s assistance. They told us it was a great honor to be going to the homeworld. The captain was amphibious, but the crew was more lizard-like in appearance.
Geneva picked this moment to try and get aquainted with the captain, and found that she looked like a mythological figure to the Khasyyq. Geneva’s skin was beginning to change and look similar to the lizard people, and they felt she may be a Mother god for them. Newie found that the lizards and the frogs are two different races, and that they joined together a very long time ago. He also found out the frogs are asexual, for whatever that is worth. The interesting thing about that for me was that they pass down their history fully from one generation to the next- literally no history, but memory.
After all that was revealed Newie tried to accuse me of going soft- never a good idea….
Turns out the frogs are an Anagenesis race- we may have to leave Newie behind….. He’s been mumbling about “Beforetech”….
Oh, and Captain Dayan comes from a secret land where they have Precurser tech…. funny he left that out for all this time…..
