Mutiny on the MedVac
Pilot’s Log: CDR Jorun Hendrik reporting. We have just finished a battle with several of the “former” crew of the Charon. What I mean by “former” is that they LOOK like the crew, but whoever they used to be, they are no longer in there, that I can tell. They are for all intensive purposes, dead. Yet they still walk and act in an aggressive manner, attacking us without warning, once we are within a certain proximity. More on that later.
The crew that I have with me, if you could call them that, are Private First Class Patrick Isley, Civilian Technician Geneva Wescott, and…uh…um…let’s call them Yeoman Dayan and Yeoman Newie. Yeah that’s right. I’m not as familiar with them as some of the others. Anyway.
After neutralizing what can be referred to as CPT Shard, the Ship’s intelligence was able to retake control of the ship’s systems and it/he made contact. He made us aware that he was losing power and need to be downloaded to an external core. We (Geneva) was barely able to complete the download before the ship lost all power.
Upon the crews request (and for tactical reasons), we made are way Cybernetics storage & the Armory. We were able to salvage several cybernetics units, a full inventory will follow. We also were very lucky to find a Progenitor level disintegrator weapon amongst the damage of the former armory.
While trying to run around the ship and salvage what we could, the local isopods started eating the full prison ship and creating CO, which was causing serious breathing issues for all of the crew, not to mention causing serious possible death.
Once we get out of ship and head towards the MedVac, we see several of the escaped prisoners surrounding the MedVac. They seemed to have killed one of our crew that was effecting repairs on the ship. We set a offensive line and attacked. We were able to neutralize all of the former prisoners. We grabbed our former crew member and boarding and evac’d.
As to the cause…at the behest of Isley, I attempted to revive Ocho. Unfortunately, he had been dead for quite some time. Something I did discover was a foreign biologic had infested the corpse and was using the DNA of the deceased to infest the deceased. I recognized the threat and neutralized it…with my blaster…
We did determine that specific biologic “raising the dead” and it does not infest living beings…just dead ones. We also determined that once we determine a method of leaving this system we know hoe to remove the biologics from the shuttle entirely. One of the crew was able to obtain a sample for further investigation and study.
While evac’ing the hotzone, we found some structures, that seem to be a space port. As we approached, we were fired upon. Due great piloting and use of countermeasures, we evaded the attack. The crew evaluated all of the signals and it was determined that the defense systems may be failing. We swung around for another pass MOE and the signals attempted to lock on, but the systems failed completely and seemed to power down completely.
Once we are closer we find one intact structure with a landing pad. We make final approach and land. One of the crew does sense sapient, sentient beings.
One note here: PFC Isley has completely has lost all military bearing. He actually challenged my command decisions and tried to call me out in front of the crew. The crew basically backed me by trying to ignore Isley. Once realizing none of the others would follow him out of a paper bag, he backed down.
We examined the structure and an interface was found. When the crew attempted to interact, it reacted, opened up and spit out a massive ship that is definitely alien. We all decided to get aboard this last ship off planet, even if some of use (Isley) were very adamant on staying on planet, despite his own face.
